Conceptualized by Alfian Sa'at, Kampung 2000 is a 4-day theatre-arts festival featuring short performances and videos by Abdul Nizam Abdul Hamid Khan, Anuar Mohd, Alfian Sa‘at, Juliana Yasin, Khairul Lizan Ahmad Jirony, Mohd Fared Jainal, Nazrin & Nurhidayana, Jamal & Nazrin, and Tiga Dara.
The performances and videos will be performed in various locations at The Substation; such as the Garden, the classrooms, the rooftop, the gallery and the alley between The Substation and the Asian Civilisation Museum. Each night, each artist will perform his/her performance in a different location, and will thus be forced to (re)adapt and transform his/her performance to the physical and aesthetic demands of the new location.
Kampung 2000 is a collective exploration into various temporo-spatial, historical, cultural and political impositions on the memory and identity of the Singapore Malay.
