Effendy received the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Singapore Foundation Culture Award in 2007. He sat on the NAC Board (2004-2006) and participated in the NAC Cultural Fellowship programme in 2014. Effendy is currently a senior lecturer at the School of Fine Art, Faculty of Art and Design, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Effendy was Broken Cello, was Katak Kudung, was Akulah Bimbo Sakti.
