In November 1993, the National Arts Council (NAC) will organise the first biennial Festival of Asian Performing Arts (FAPA). The NAC has done this in response to the growing interest among Singaporeans in Asian performing arts. This Festival will complement the biennial Festival of Arts.
The Festival aims to promote, preserve as well as encourage interest in the various art forms of Singapore's different ethnic communities. It will also showcase the rich performing arts of Asia.
I would like to thank our sponsors, donors and all volunteers, whose generous support, in money and kind, have helped to
make this Festival a reality.
I have great pleasure in welcoming you to the Festival, and trust that you will find its programme a varied and enjoyable one.
