Centre 42 and Artwave Studio are looking for 4 writers to develop short audio plays as part of Waterloo Street Stories, which will take place during this year’s Singapore Night Festival.
Each writer will work off archival material (photographs, interviews, objects drawn from Waterloo Street) to create an original 10 minute audio play that will be professionally produced by Artwave Studio and released during Singapore Night Festival 2023 in August.
As part of this project, the writers will attend an audio drama workshop facilitated by writer Joel Tan, who will also help develop the scripts. The writers will work with a director during the recording and production process. This is a paid opportunity, and each writer will receive $800.
To apply, please submit:
- Your CV (maximum 2 pages). Please click this link for the application form.
- A writing sample (maximum 10 pages from an existing stage play, screenplay, or audio play; poetry and prose will not be considered)
- 2 pages of an audio piece written in response to the prompt: “Upside Down”
Selected writers will be notified in May 2023. Writers must be able to attend the audio drama workshop on 9 and 10 June, and be available for studio dates in July. The audio plays will be released on 18 August.
