Laura Hayes is an educator, writer, and theatre-maker. She is currently Associate Dean, Practice Research at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Prior to joining NAFA, Laura worked throughout the arts industry as an actor, director, educator, and casting assistant for over fifteen years. Her performing experience includes work at the Tron Theatre, Arts Theatre, Union Theatre, Polka Theatre, Southwold Rep, Eye Theatre, for Rumpus, and Dreamthinkspeak. She has taught extensively for companies that include the Royal Shakespeare Company, Touchstone Shakespeare Theatre, Polka Theatre, Dundee College, and Oxbridge Academic Programs.
Laura holds a degree in Acting from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, an MA from Birmingham University, and was awarded an Entente Cordiale Scholarship to study for two years at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. She is currently a PhD candidate at Royal Holloway University in the UK, exploring new approaches to playwriting.
A founder member of the theatre collective Autopoetics, Laura wrote Provenance in an expanded form of playwriting. Provenance was created and performed by Autopoetics at the Drama Centre Black Box in 2018. Laura’s play You/I was selected by W!ld Rice to be part of the Singapore Theatre Festival in 2020.
