Two motifs recur throughout the episodic play, blood and the bird. Two seemingly discordant chords locked in dialogue. The former, symbolic of blood-lines, ancestral connections, duty and rootedness. The latter, symbolic of freedom, individualism, a migratory instinct and nomadism. Through a series of short vignettes such as game shows, traffic jams, interview and TV shows, Causeway explores these motifs in image, text and character. The result?
