The Dramaturg in Programming, Curating and Research | ADN Lab 2018

This panel explores the role of the dramaturg in the programming, curation and research of performance art-making. RUHANIE PERERA talks about negotiating subjectivities in curation and research, referring to her experiences with the performance artworks Inside the Melancholic Object, Effigies of Turbulent Yesterdays, Herstories and Ironing Man. MANDEEP RAIKHY’s presentation is about the programming of Delhi-based dance organisation Gati Dance Forum which he and other choreographers had set up in 2007, aiming to create dialogue around dance practice and between dance practitioners. MUHAMMAD ABBE BAASYIN shares about his research on Indonesian artist Bagon Kussudiardja and the decisions made about presenting the findings in an exhibition, particularly choosing to contextualise the exhibition within Indonesia’s socio-political developments.
