Body Text

After her husband's death, the tyrannical Bernarda Alba decrees a rigorous mourning and strict moral code on her five unmarried daughters, even forbidding them to leave the house. Sexually frustrated and yearning for love, they search unsuccessfully for ways to escape. A suitor enters the scene and with the sisters all lusting for him, tragedy becomes inevitable.
