Preview of Interlogue, Studies in Singapore Literature, Volume 4: Interviews. Pages have been omitted in this book preview.
INTERLOGUE is an exciting new Series which will bring into critical focus the works of Singapore writers in English. It aims for stimulating insights through sustained engagements with a variety of approaches, themes and perspectives.
In this volume of 16 interviews with selected Singapore writers, poets and playwrights, Dr. Ronald D. Klein shares with us the invaluable insights to the background and works of each writer within their respective social context and climate. Starting with Goh Sin Tub (b. 1927) who lived through the Japanese Occupation to the post-Independence generation of writers such as Haresh Sharma (b. 1965) and Alvin Pang (b. 1972), the interviews in this volume spans Singapore history from the British colonial period to the present day.
This is an important book for the uninitiated reader who knows little to nothing about Singapore writers, as well as the fans and scholars who want to know more.
