Jit Murad (1960 - 2022) was a Malaysian actor, writer, playwright and theatre activist. In 1989, he co-founded the Instant Café Theatre Company (ICT), which is well-known for its social and political satire. In 1993, he helped start and direct Dramalab, an arm of ICT dedicated to encouraging new writing.

Written in 1992, his first play, Gold Rain & Hailstones, led him to be described by late theatre doyen Krishen Jit as Malaysia's 'contemporary penglipur lara, the teller of tales about our social and personal manners here and now, and the soother of our neuroses'. Other notable works include Storyteller (1996), Visits (2002), as well as Spilt Gravy on Rice (2002), which won four Boh Cameronian awards in 2003.

Jit Murad continues to be widely regarded as one of the most significant Malaysian playwrights for his talent, warmth and quick wit.
