Trapped in an unknown time, in an unknown corner afar, the only things five unknown souls can recall are the great uncertainties of their correlation.

They embark on a retracing of mutual identities but soon derail into pondering over the state of their beings. Is this merely an attempt to provide meaning to their transient forms - however arbitrary?

They start to reflect, and try to salvage whatever is left of their memory, while yearning for a glimpse of a beacon of hope somewhere afar.

Afar is playwright Lee Shyh Jih's breakthrough work. Lee is known for the sensual realism in his works, but with Afar, he takes you into the mystical realm of liminality.

Directed by Jalyn Han, Afar features an eclectic mix of renowned actors in Singapore - Doreen Toh, Goh Seok Ai, Karen Tan, Tan Shou Chen and Tan Wan Sze.

Performed in Mandarin with English surtitles. Suitable for patrons aged 15 years and above.

1hr 30 mins with no intermission.
