Roots is the winner of The Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards 2013 for Best Production and Best Script. Written, directed and performed by Oliver Chong from The Finger Players, Roots centres on his journey in search of his ancestral home in China. With only the scantiest clues to go on, he struggles to uncover a family secret which may or may not be true. Fixated on finding the truth, Chong's multilingual monologue skilfully and humorously portrays the different characters encountered on his increasingly confusing search.
