The four of Chekov's short stories - On the Train, Kashtanka, Rothschild's Fiddle and The Man in a Shell come alive in this Chekov's Short Stories Adaptation.

Chekov's Short Stories Adaptation of his four works describes some passengers embark on a train voyage across the frozen wastelands of Russia - their stories unfold, capturing the tenderness and fragility of the human spirit. ON THE TRAIN provides the framework for the show - a journey which begins at the Happy-Trach-Tarrach Station towards a station known as Run-for-Your-Life, a wonderful array of characters and stories are revealed, hidden within each other like Russian nesting dolls. On board, twisted little Byelikov from THE MAN IN A SHELL looks as though he has been pulled out of his lodgings. While in KASHTANKA, the lost dog, meets the circus master who teaches her how to perform the Egyptian Pyramid. The coffin-maker in ROTHSCHILD'S FIDDLE realizes that when he dies his fiddle will be orphaned.

The more he thinks of a life of loss and waste, the more sadly sings his violin...
