Body Text

A familiar face in both the education scene and making appearances on television, Wan Haddad equipped with a specialist certificate from SEED Institute in performing arts, is an energetic individual who believes in collaborative efforts and in creating creative shared visions.

Trained traditionally, he supports the need for heritage and cultural preservation while bringing it forward in a contemporary context. Honing an interest in the power of prose as he explored theatre while at Singapore Polytechnic, his first works entitled Kotak Hari Jadi, S.H.I.T and Wawas have been staged in Kuala Lumpur Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka Theatre Festival and Tanjung Pinang Cultural Festival. As part of NHB’s Malay Language Month, he wrote and staged Gemilang Nusantara. Haddad had the opportunity to co-write with KL-based theatre group Projek Ronggeng for its special triple-bill play Projek Tiga: Bilik. As a theatre practitioner his range of characters sees the lights of the M1 Fringe Festival 2021 and 2022 in Wan Belantara and Rindu Di Bulan, Esplanade’s Pesta Raya 2022 for Karta Kata as well as Jodoh for Iyakkunar/Tunjuk Arah at Centre 42. He has recently been commissioned by organisations for community events and workshops to let young audiences enter the enchanted realms of storytelling.
