In 1942, Singapore fell into the hands of the Japanese army and was renamed Shonan Island. Immediately, a mass inspection was carried out to wipe out the dissident forces.
During this difficult period, an opera performer, a journalist and a merchant met in a prison. Their different backgrounds, beliefs and values brought about a series of conflicts. Confronting such hard times, each of them had to rediscover and re-examine their lives, finding their place and dislocation in a relentless history.
