This is a story of grief - for mortal's condemned
deeds and longing for vengeance resulted in a tragedy
- where the son lost his life in his own father's hand.

In Mukim Pelangi
It happened 20 harvesting seasons ago.
There was a young girl of 16, daughter of the penghulu
Named Dewi Ratna
Engaged to Arjuna, a young warrior
The betrothed couple were waiting patiently
Full of hope to tie the nuptial knot
So together they would lead the life of husband and wife
Both were having the same dream
Hoping it will come true one day

The preparations were already done -
The rice was already stocked
The oxen were already in the pen
The house was beautifully decorated
Left the henna, yet to be plucked off the stems

Alas, one morning at dawn
While Dewi Ratna was bathing in the river
There came the two devils - Gajah Menta and Panglima Awang
The two kidnapped her away
In a cave deep in the jungle, Dewi Ratna was imprisoned
There, she was tortured and raped by Gajah Menta

Two months later, she escaped from the hell
Where she was tortured and lost her modesty
But she never returned to her village
Ashamed for what had befallen on her
She walked where her feet could drag her along
Until she was saved by an old lady
And later gave birth to a baby
Jentayu, her son, fathered by Gajah Menta

After 20 harvesting seasons had lapsed
Dewi Ratna disclosed the truth to Jentayu
Jentayu swore, to seek for vengeance

Eventually, both met Gajah Menta
When father and son had a deadly duel
Ill fate befell on the son
Fatally stabbed by his own father's dagger
After knowing Jentayu was his own blood
Gajah Menta became insane
