What a magical moment witnessing a puppet come to life! It is in this spirit of wonder we present to you the 3rd edition of No Strings Attached Puppet Festival. Bringing puppetry closer to Singapore's audience is a core element of Paper Monkey's mission and we are elated to have you on-board this intimate journey.
Forging close friendships with groups along the puppetry festival circuit strengthens our puppetry community and we are happy to share this same love and passion with our international friends. This year No Strings Attached Puppet Festival is extending its reach outside of Asia! What an honour to extend our invitation for Di Filippo Marionette (Italy/ Australia) and Sydney Puppet Theatre (Australia) to join us in Singapore.
Paper Monkey has been performing at Thailand's puppetry festivals almost annually and our relationship with our Thai peers is strong and growing. We are pleased to reciprocate this close friendship by featuring puppetry group A CREATURE (Thailand) as our programme highlight. Artistic director Surachai Petsangrot was a performer in No Strings Attached previously and this year we are delighted to host him and his endearing creation.
No Strings Attached marks a critical milestone in the development of puppetry arts in Singapore. Local audience can now look forward to a weekend of international puppetry in its varied enchanting forms - all to be savoured up-close and personal! Last year a senior citizen lamented it was a pity his grandson was not able to join him at the festival and he hopes to bring his family for this year's programmes. It humbles us to witness how puppetry can contribute to family and communal bonding.
May this annual festival blossom as a platform for cherished experiences of puppetry art - uniting audience, performers, and puppets and bonding them via performance, appreciation, and enjoyment.
