A Mirage is a pop-up pub-theatre for artists to experiment & create, away from financial or critical pressure. In partnership with The Projector X Riverside, the theatre runs on a revenue-share model and is focused on producing productions - both premieres and revivals - of original Singaporean writing.

Why ‘A Mirage’?

A Mirage is defined (by Google) as either

1. ‘an optical illusion caused by atmospheric conditions" or
2. “an unrealistic hope or wish that cannot be achieved”.

Sometimes, making independent theatre in Singapore can feel like both these definitions - and yet, here we are. Working in a mirage, moving towards a mirage, creating a mirage. Our name is a wish and a commitment to enacting a dream. And - it reflects our commitment to strictly be a pop-up platform - no pouring of resources into ensuring sustainability or longevity.

Why Revenue Share?

Revenue share is our way of freeing ourselves from financial pressure - this way, we do not have to focus on looking for sponsors, or appeasing government funding guidelines. We can make the art we wish to, and get paid equally. Revenue is split up equally between all involved - cast, crew, producer, and venue.

Who Are We?

A Mirage is produced and founded by Pearlyn Tay & Theo Chen.
