Under the Inventing Paper Speech program (started in Oct 2010), which aims to provide a platform for budding playwrights to have their works read out, Strange Fruit is a meditation on the commercialization of death in art, and a satirical portrayal of the billion dollar artist, Damien Hearse (intentional typo) who goes to an art gallery to purchase an unique installation called Strange Fruit.

This is a short performance which seeks to integrate the various masked traditions from the Japanese Noh, Balinese Topeng to Libby Appel’s Mask Characterization, in an attempt to explore the sacred and the possibilities of mask work in contemporary theater.

Strange Fruit was read again at the Late-Night Texting Festival 2018 under the Eat My Shorts segment.
