This organisation was active from 2000 - 2018.
I Theatre is one of the region’s premiere producing companies for family orientated theatre, producing an average of four brand new theatre productions a year. We challenge the notion that children’s theatre should be boring, or childish – and aim to produce theatre experiences that will be as accessible and challenging, funny and thought provoking to an adult as to a child. We believe in connecting with our audience, and making their experience personal. We want to constantly challenge ourselves to create something new, better and different.
From 2008 to 2013 we headed up and presented the ACE! Festival of Performing Arts for Children and Families.
We have taken productions to Malaysia (2005-2015), Korea (2016), Japan, Hong Kong (2014) and The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012), the First Kuala Lumpur International Children’s Theatre Festival (2005) and we’ve toured India (2006): Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
As part of our Outreach Programme we established Creative Edge in 2013, a successful professional theatre-training programme for 16-27 year olds. We regularly bring in professionals to teach our in-house team specialised skills, such as Clowning, Physical Theatre, Dance, Voice and Mask.
