Teater Kami, no newcomer to the local drama scene, will be staging Kuo Pao Kun's The Silly Little Girl and the Funny Old Tree (Budak Bodoh dan Pohon Yang Aneh). The play is translated and directed by Indonesian director, Bapak Abu Bakar, who recently won first prize in a TV script writing competition in Bali.
The Silly Little Girl and the Funny Old Tree describes an unusual friendship between a lonely girl and an old tree. When the developers threaten to chop down the tree to make way for an estate, the little girl risks her life to protect it - only to find later that the tree has been pruned to accomodate its newly designed environment.
