The Magic Pearl is based on a very popular Chinese legend about the romance between the fairy Ning-Po and a scholar. Their romance is almost wrecked by an evil spirit, who has been making advances towards Ning-Po. Using her magic pearl. Ning-Po defeats the evil spirit and its army.
